Hear from these four leading women’s rights activists about the battles they have fought, the gains they have made and the positive actions that we can all take together. With Scotland’s Gender Recognition Reform Bill now facing an uncertain future how do we continue to make the urgent case for women’s sex-based rights? The evening will comprise of panel discussion, Q&A from the floor and socialising in the bar. 

Nimco Ali OBE is a leading survivor activist, author and political strategist is the co-founder and CEO of The Five Foundation, a global partnership to end female genital mutilation (FGM). She later went on to form the Daughters of Eve organisation with Leyla Hussein to campaign against FGM. in 2019 she authored What We're told not to Talk About (But We're Going to Anyway): Women's Voices from East London to Ethopia. a series of intimate, illuminating and often devastating conversations with women on the subjects of sex, masturbation, periods, pregnancy, the menopause and more. In 2020 she was appointed as Independent Government Adviser for Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls. @NimcoAli

Afsana Lachaux is an award winning women's rights campaigner and social policy expert. Afsana fought a high profile international custody battle following a court ruling in the United Arab Emirates that granted her husband a Sharia divorce and sole custody of their son Louis. She won a landmark legal victory for women's rights in France and changed UK Foreign Office advice for British women traveling to the Gulf, to help protect them from discrimination. Afsana is a former senior civil servant and is currently working at The Prince's Trust. @afsanalachaux

Onjali Rauf MBE is a best-selling British author and the founder of the NGO Making Herstory a womens' rights organisation tackling the abuse and trafficking of women. She is a Sunday Times bestselling children's author. In 2018, she published her first children's book, The Boy at the Back of the Class which went on to win the Waterstones and Blue Peter Book Awards, and in 2019, published The Star Outside My Window, a story highlighting the impact of domestic violence upon children. @OnjaliRauf 

Chair: Lucy Masoud is a barrister, feminist campaigner, a former firefighter and a Director of Woman's Place UK. As a firefighter Lucy campaigned against mixed sex changing rooms on fire stations, and was also heavily involved in the fight for justice for the survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire. Lucy is currently a family barrister who specialises in representing female victims of domestic violence. @luluchops1
